SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Dec. 13, 2018 – To help support those with the greatest need, CoastView Veterinary Hospital has enrolled in the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) Veterinary Care Charitable Fund.

The program was created to help cover the cost of veterinary care provided by those caring for lost, neglected, abused, or otherwise abandoned animals. In addition, the fund also helps cover veterinary care costs for pets whose owners are facing extraordinary hardships.

The AVMF is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization and is the charitable arm of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).

Affectionately named Benjamin’s Fund in honor of the business owner’s beloved hound dog who enjoyed seventeen years of life and was one very well-traveled pet. “I consider Ben as my best friend throughout my adult life, so far,” said veterinarian and business owner Laura Schultz. “He was also my protector during all of my husband’s military deployments from the east coast to the west coast, even Guam and Hawaii. And our entire family agreed this fund is one of the best ways to honor Ben’s life and also help animals in need.”

Anyone can help by making a contribution to the AVMF on behalf of CoastView Veterinary Hospital and Benjamin’s Fund. “All monetary contributions, no matter the size, will be accepted and very much appreciated,” Dr. Schultz continued.

A special web page has been created on the company website to help facilitate online donations. In addition, donors can mail donations directly to the AVMF.

Hello, I am a disabled senior citizen with a service dog that is in need of extensive but good prognosis vet care. When I inquired about this program to help me afford the care, the staff told me they don’t know anything about it and made me sign payment papers. Can you ease clarify what this announcement means for people like me seeking care for their animal at your clinic?
